While it caused confusion for a number of social media users, the post left many people joking about time travel with a number of references to Lost, Back to the Future and Cher's song 'If I could turn back time'.
As you can imagine, Twitter had a field day with this "time travel".
Hawaiian Airlines's HA446 flight took off from the New Zealand capital, Auckland on New Year's Eve and landed in Honolulu the day before, as in the tropical island complex 2018 had not yet arrived.
It's not so complicated and apparently very common.
Initially, the Auckland flight was scheduled to land in Honolulu five minutes before the time changed. Sam Sweeney, a transportation reporter for Washington, DC, station WJLA, was the first to notice the sci-fi-esque take-off and landing times of the flight. But it was thanks to a 10-minute delay that this feat of technical time-travel was made possible, reveals Mashable.
What a wonderful New Year's or two it was for those on board.
It's plane insane: A flight that took off in 2018 ended up landing in 2017.
