During Macron's visit, French power group Areva signed a memorandum of understanding with China National Nuclear Corp for cooperation in nuclear waste processing.
The French leader downplayed the lack of other big deals during his visit, saying other countries had trumpeted big figures in the past that masked more modest realities.
While no deal has been finalised over the current official visit, Macron said China had assured him it would respect market-share parity between Airbus and Boeing.
United States and European firms also complain about being forced to hand over intellectual property secrets in order to gain market access.
France is tightening controls on Chinese investment to limit access to its technology, Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said on an official visit to Beijing.
During his campaign, the French leader took a "slightly negative" approach to China by pushing for a European-level investment protection agency, but that development seems to have lost ground, Garcia-Herrero said.
Soon after arriving in China, the French president declared that "Europe is back", announcing he meant to visit China every year of his five-year presidency. He was formally handed a second term and his name was enshrined in the party's constitution.
Macron was accompanied by over 50 corporate executives.
