Mukesh Ambani's Jio said the new data plans will be valid from Tuesday, January 9.
All Jio plans will continue to offer free unlimited calling and SMSes within India even during roaming. And the Rs 509 tariff plan offers the same benefits for 91 days, up from the previous 84 days of validity. In percentage terms, the rate cut ranges between 8 on the 91-day validity pack to 25 on the 28-day validity pack.
The company announced that the users will get 50 per cent more data per month on the same prices as earlier. The validity of this plan will be 84 days. Users also get unlimited voice calls and 1GB data per day.
India's leading telecom operator Airtel also made the same changes to its Rs 448 and Rs 509 open market tariff plans.
Jio's Rs. 499 prepaid plan will be available at Rs. 459 after getting a price cut of Rs. 50. There's another pack of Rs 399 which provides similar benefits for 70 days from the date of recharge. Then, they can recharge with the updated Jio Rs 399 plan to get 14GB/14 days extra in addition to cashback and other benefits of the Jio Surprise Cashback offer. However, users will get 250 minutes per day or 1,000 minutes per week of calls.
Airtel's Rs 549 recharge offer gives users 84GB data for 28 days. FUP or daily data limit is 1GB. This plan was launched to cater to the demand of high-data-consuming users. The plan also offers unlimited local and STD calls with unlimited SMS.
