India's two most powerful women politicians- Sonia Gandhi of the Congress and Mamata Banerjee chief minister of West Bengal- have sounded the battle cry to prevent Narendra Modi and the BJP from retaining power at the Centre in 2019 during separate events on Friday.
He said, it will be an nearly uncontested win for Abhishek Singvi after party nominated him as candidate for Rajya Sabha poll from Bengal.
The Trinamool Congress chief also met senior NCP leader Praful Patel to discuss the formation of a federal front.
Justifying Deb's nomination, Left Front chairman Biman Bose issued a statement saying they were surprised to hear that the Congress has unanimously made a decision to field its own candidate at a time when Congress and Left Front were in dialogue over a consensus candidate.
The four Trinamool candidates for the elections to the Upper House are - Nadimul Haque, who was renominated, Subhasish Chakraborty, Abir Biswas and Dr Santunu Sen.
Apart from Haque, who was nominated to the RS in 2012, all are new candidates.
Mukul Roy, who joined the BJP from the Trinamool a year ago, has already resigned from the Upper House.
