Journal reported. The money was to be paid to her over two years in quarterly settlements, with the first payment due on December 1, sources told WSJ.
President Donald Trump's longtime personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, negotiated a $1.6 million payment to a former Playboy model who says a top Republican fundraiser named Elliott Broidy got her pregnant, The Wall Street Journal reported. "She alone decided that she did not want to continue with the pregnancy and I offered to help her financially during this hard period", Brody wrote. Broidy confirmed the existence of an affair and said he did work with Cohen.
Cohen and Broidy worked together at the RNC, after both being appointed in April 2017 by Trump. The woman became pregnant during the affair.
Keith Davidson, the lawyer who represented Daniels at the time, also represented the Playboy model with whom Broidy had an affair. Broidy is the chairman and CEO of Broidy Capital Management and had previously as a National Vice Chairman of the Trump Victory Campaign in 2016.
Broidy apologized to his family in his statement: "It is unfortunate that this personal matter between two consenting adults is the subject of national discussion just because of Michael Cohen's involvement".
The contract reads that whether or not she is "indeed pregnant as she alleges" she has all her legal rights to seek "the paternity of the alleged child", and any support, financial help, or otherwise.
Cohen and Davidson did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
"Federal investigators are reportedly sifting through Cohen's records seized in the raids to check for evidence of bank fraud, but they have also stumbled upon a veritable treasure trove of 'thousands of privileged communications", according to Cohen's lawyer, Todd Harrison.
Broidy added that he retained Cohen's services to strike the deal due to Cohen's prior relationship with Keith Davidson, the unnamed woman's attorney.
Broidy, a deputy finance chairman of the Republican National Committee and Los Angeles-based venture capitalist, admitted to having a relationship with the mystery woman. Those are the same names used to identify Donald Trump and Daniels (real name Stephanie Clifford) in a 2016 agreement.
According to the Journal, the former model alleged that Broidy had paid her for an exclusive sexual relationship.
The matter might have remained personal, as the relations between a California businessman and a Playmate is nothing unusual in Tinseltown, but Broidy reportedly helped raise over $108 million in funding for Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and donated more than $160,000 to the RNC past year.
