Search and rescue teams searched the lake by boat Wednesday afternoon.
The recovery of the body comes a day after a teenager who was said to be yelling and flailing before sinking into the water, witnesses told Fox 4 in Fort Myers. Nothing was found in the water. They say they are actively searching a water body after receiving a report of a missing 15-year-old boy near Salem Drive and Marietta Street in Orlando.
"I had binoculars the whole time to report back what I was seeing and saw him surface a few times and he went under and didn't see him come back up", Wolfe said.
But in a news conference Thursday morning, officials said there was no evidence of an alligator attack. He said the teen was about 20 yards from shore.
"Somebody cut that open (the fence and) people ride bikes back there and everything".
Neighbors in the area say their lake is known to be home to multiple large gators. I said, "You know, they're gators in there" and he goes, "Yeah". They believe he was possibly taken underwater by an alligator.
