He was initially booked on an Air China flight to Washington but changed it to a Wednesday flight bound for NY, the agency said. "I'd like to say that the fact that North Korea and the USA agreed to have a summit and working-level talks indicates that the US has already confirmed the North's intentions".
Moon said he told Kim that Trump has a "firm resolve" to end hostile relations with North Korea and initiate economic cooperation if Kim implements "complete denuclearization". And, on Sunday, the president said an American delegation was meeting with North Korean officials in preparation for the meeting. Sung Kim, a former USA ambassador to South Korea and former negotiator on North Korea's nuclear weapons program.
When Kim Chang-son was asked by a reporter at Beijing airport if he was flying to Singapore for talks with the U.S., he said he was "going there to play", according to footage from Nippon Television Network.
In Tokyo, Abe told reporters he was briefed by Trump about recent developments regarding the summit, but did not elaborate.

Mr Trump told reporters at the White House during a meeting with a USA prisoner freed by Venezuela: "It's moving along very nicely".
American officials are skeptical that Kim will ever fully abandon his nuclear arsenal.
Soon thereafter, the North Korean leaders said they were ready to meet anytime and anywhere.
"We believe that it is necessary to establish a hotline between North Korea and the United States", Moon said at a press conference on Sunday.
Lord Hague noted: "Kim would leave with a U.S. attack off the table, some hope of raising living-standards for North Koreans, and de facto recognition of the weapons he retains".
Pictures from the summit showed Mr Moon and Mr Kim shaking hands as well as embracing, and revealed Mr Kim brought along his sister, Kim Yo Jung. Moon said Sunday that the North's disarmament could be still be a hard process even if Pyongyang, Washington and Seoul don't differ over what "complete denuclearization" of the peninsula means.

Moon said Monday there could be more impromptu talks between the two Koreas in the lead-up to the summit.
CNN global affairs analyst Joseph Yun said a joint declaration of some sort on June 12 was far more likely, given the short time period to iron out differences before Mr Trump and Mr Kim meet.
"I miss Trump, I'm already here in Singapore waiting for him to turn up", he said. "And I'm hopeful that we'll work together to make sure that this summit is a success".
The president has also directed his advisers to move forward with plans for a June 12 summit with Kim. They allowed Moon to push for a U.S.
