Lastly, pursuant with its pledge to help establish transparency, Apple announced an all-new feature called Screen Time for iOS 12, which is designed primarily to formulate and give users detailed breakdowns of their device usage patterns over a given 24-hour or 7-day period of time.

Users can then set time usage limits per app, giving them a notification if they reach a daily time usage limit.

He also said Apple would crack down on so-called "fingerprinting", in which data companies identify specific devices by creating a unique fingerprint based on a device's particular configuration settings, installed fonts and plug-ins. The update, which includes a host of new features, will track your screen time, with an eye on improving user health and wellbeing.

What prompted the new features? The format will also get support in Adobe's Creative Cloud suite of apps for professional photographers, videographers and designers.

The software will be available for beta developers later this month and will be released to all users in the Autumn.

Apple's interest in augmented reality (AR) is not a secret and with iOS 12, Apple will be introducing ARKit 2, an improvement over its predecessor which according to Apple, will allow developers to create shared experiences.

So what's new? The Verge breaks down iOS 12 into a number of categories, which we'll list off briefly below.

'We're using advanced algorithms to make AR even more engaging and on-device intelligence to deliver faster ways to get things done using Siri'.

Grouped notifications: We all get a rush of anxiety, or even panic when we see how many notifications our phone has racked up while away from it. It'll be available on the Apple Watch Series 1 and later, so anyone with an original Apple Watch will remain on watchOS 4.

Another rumour, which could be confirmed later today, is that Apple may be giving some third-party developers full access to the NFC chip inside iPhones.

The main focus of Apple in its operating system is performance and that is what obtained on iOS 12. In iOS 12, animoji have tongue detection. It also includes the same new camera effects like iMessage, so you can add filters or Animoji to your face on the call.

Apple also rolled out group video chat sessions with up to 32 users, putting it in direct competition with companies such as Cisco Systems Inc and Microsoft Corp's Skype.

Apple also discussed privacy in announcing its new macOS Mojave. In Safari, enhanced Intelligent Tracking Prevention helps block social media "Like" or "Share" buttons and comment widgets from tracking users without permission. After that, you can swipe up on any of the app to quit them. Users are able to set parameters for when the bedtime mode starts and ends in the control center.
