2018 FIFA World Cup Russia

Egypt ended their World Cup campaign without a point as they crashed to a 2-1 defeat to Saudi Arabia at the Volgograd Arena on Monday evening.

An Egyptian commentator died after reportedly suffering a heart attack shortly after his country lost its final World Cup game against Saudi Arabia on Monday.

Although he gave up the two goals, he also saved a penalty in the first half.

Mohamed Salah, playing for the second time since injuring his left shoulder in last month's Champions League final, had put Egypt ahead in the 22nd minute after deftly controlling a long ball from Abdalla Said and then lobbing goalkeeper Yasser Almosailem.

Salah explained the team's situation citing that this is their first World Cup in 28 years, and that most of the players are young.

Just minutes later, however, a second penalty was given to Saudi Arabia, and this time converted by Salman Al Faraj.

El Hadaray did not finish victorious, however, as Salman Alfaraj - with another penalty - levelled Mohamed Salah's opener and Salem Aldawsari struck an injury-time victor.

El Hadary was unable to repeat the feat when Alfaraj lined up against him at the end of the half, going the wrong way and having no chance.

The win, settled by midfielder Salem Al-Dawsari's angled strike in the 95th minute, meant Saudi Arabia finished third in Group A, scoring their only goals in Russian Federation and putting behind them an opening day 5-0 thrashing by the hosts.

Ten minutes into the second half, Saudi Arabia almost took the lead as El-Hadary's clearance landed at the feet of Bahbri, who volleyed over the bar from 12-yards out.

El Hadary, who is 45 years and 161 days old, is at his first World Cup for the Pharaohs and won his 157th cap. It was the Asians who prevailed through to record their first ever victory in a World Cup since 1994.
