Since announcing a major name change from IHOP to IHOb, the pancake chain has been drumming up lots of speculation over what the "B" stands for, with many assuming it would be "breakfast" or "brunch".
Yes, you heard that right - burgers.
IHOP DIN created quite a stir last week when it told Twitter TWTR users that it would be changing the last letter of its acronym from a "P" to a "b", teasing major changes for the brand. Fans immediately took to the video, already giving it 13,000 views as well as 650-plus comments within just an hour of being posted. The chain is shifting its emphasis to seven new "steak burgers", which include a cowboy burger with onion rings and bacon and a "mega monster", which is IHOb's answer to McDonald's Big Mac.
Until this morning, the most popular guesses of IHOb's "b" had been "breakfast" (per Observer's poll) and "bacon" (per IHOP's poll).
People are getting a real kick out of IHOP's re-brand!
Some people are saying that IHOB was ill-conceived.
According to Forbes.com, sales for the restaurant chain were flat from 2015-2017, so this is likely a way for the company to try and revitalize its sales.
Still, it's worth wondering why IHOP is going through all this trouble. "If you want a burger and beer, you are not going to come to IHOP".
