Stefanie Schaffer, 22, had been holidaying on the islands with her family when the tourist boat they were on burst into flames.
Schaffer was taken to a Bahamas hospital, where both her legs were amputated.
In addition to her husband, Maleka Jackson, who was 39-years-old, leaves behind a son.
The family said in a statement to U.S. media on Tuesday: "As you can imagine this is an incredibly hard time for the family, especially Tiran and Maleka's 12-year-old son".
ABC News reported that one of the 10 Americans, who has not been identified, who was on the boat was killed.
Two men are seen wading out to the boat to pull one of the victims from the burning vessel, while one man, who fled the blaze, was seen bleeding and yelling for a doctor to help.
According to a Facebook post by George Schaffer, the family will soon be airlifted to the US.
The boat's two crew members survived.
