Florence could become a hurricane again by Sunday".
The National Hurricane Center on Friday was showing a projected path for Florence that could take the storm along the North Carolina coast.
The other is wind shear.
There is still much uncertainty surrounding Florence and its strength and path.
Now with 115 miles per hour winds, the storm had risen briefly to Category 4 on Wednesday with winds of 130 miles per hour. Hurricane Hunters (airplanes that fly into tropical systems) are stationed in Bermuda and are preparing for flights into the storm.
"It's now being reported as just a tropical storm, but a strong one at that, and is expected to strengthen as it continues to work its way across the Atlantic over the weekend".
Its winds peaked at 130mph, which made it a Category 4 hurricane.
The Hurricane Center reported at 8 a.m. that a tropical depression could form over the weekend or early next week while the wave moves westward or west-northwestward over the far eastern tropical Atlantic Ocean.
Significantly, the average track of the American model simulations, which had suggested the storm was most likely to stay well out to sea, has trended closer to the coastline with time.
