Reynold's Hollywood career skyrocketed in the '70s for his breakout role as Lewis Medlock in 1972's "Deliverance". The film was later remade with Adam Sandler taking the ball as Paul "Wrecking" Crewe, while Reynolds played Coach Nate Scarborough. Met Burt Reynolds a few years back... so glad I did. Reynolds retreated to his adopted home of Florida and opened the Jupiter Theater, a popular spot with local audiences where he directed several productions and appeared in a couple as well. The actor was one of the biggest movie stars of the 1970s, with films such as The Cannonball Run and Smokey and the Bandit making him a household name. Reynolds continued to support Florida State after becoming a big-time Hollywood star and was often spotted on the sidelines or in the stands during gameday.
He won a Golden Globe in 1997 for his role as porn director Jack Horner in "Boogie Knights".
His romps with several attractive Hollywood women throughout his life only served to boost his amorous reputation.
Reynolds was one of the hottest stars in the 1970s and 80s, putting in memorable performances in Deliverance, Smokey and the Bandit and Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. He is survived by his son from his second marriage, Quinton Anderson Reynolds.
Reynolds was born in Lansing, Michigan, on February 11, 1936.
"I had a tremendous freshman year, then I had gotten hurt at the beginning of my sophomore year and had my knee operated on", Reynolds says in the interview.
