Twitter says Jones won't be able to create new accounts on Twitter or take over any existing ones. "We took this action based on new reports of Tweets and videos posted yesterday that violate our abusive behavior policy, in addition to the accounts' past violations".
Jones, who is the controversial InfoWars founder, repeatedly interrupted Rubio while he was attempting to answer questions from reporters during a recess in the Senate Intelligence Committee's hearing on foreign use of social media to influence USA politics. The aggressive encounter was filmed by Jones on Periscope, which is owned by Twitter.
Jones repeatedly interrupted Rubio as the senator answered questions from reporters. "Jones ranted at the reporter, as well as Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, following back-to-back congressional hearings where Dorsey addressed online election meddling, as well as accusations of political bias and conservative censorship on the platform".
Darcy has aggressively questioned social media companies about the forbearance they showed Jones, asking why they have allowed him to remain on their platforms for as long as they have.
He continues by saying Darcy 'smiles like a possum that crawled out of the rear end of a dead cow'.
This comes after a long period of time in which professionals and social media users alike criticized Dorsey for his inaction against Jones.
Among other claims, he has called the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting a hoax.
Parents of some of the children killed in the attack are pursuing a defamation case against him.
Jones has also claimed that the September 11, 2001 attacks on NY and Washington were staged by the USA government.
