Federal prosecutors want no bail for a man accused of sending pipe bombs to prominent Democrats around the country. A judge set another hearing for Friday on whether to grant bail to Sayoc and to discuss when he will be sent from Miami to NY, where five federal charges were filed.
Donald Trump, Sunday night and Monday morning, blamed the press for the slew of bombs sent to his critics, as well as the synagogue slaughter of 11 by an alt-right subscriber intent on killing Jews he believed were financing a caravan of killers bound for the southern border.
Sayoc's other targets included former president Barack Obama, former attorney general Eric Holder, Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, liberal billionaire George Soros and actor Robert De Niro, authorities said.
It was unclear if the latest package was part of the same pattern. Sayoc was arrested Friday in Florida after investigators said they identified him through fingerprint and DNA evidence.
Sayoc is being prosecuted in NY, so his Florida hearing will likely be brief and process-oriented.
