The Ellen DeGeneres Show".
Grande chose to channel the classic musical number from "The First Wives Club", wearing bridal white alongside her two backup singers to resemble the film's stars Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Dianne Keaton.
She sings: "Thought I'd end up with Sean/But he wasn't a match/Wrote some songs about Ricky/Now I listen and laugh".
"Oh, my god!" Grande shouted as she recovered from the fall, then nearly seamlessly continued performing.
As for the performance, it was definitely live as she almost took a faceplant trying to step down from a chair on the wedding reception-inspired set. Grande has kept mum about her father since then, but she did wish Butera a Happy Father's Day on Instagram previous year and even wrote, "I love you".
While she didn't go into detail about what tore them apart, it appears that she has come to terms with their distant relationship.
"One day I'll walk down the aisle / holdin" hands with my mama", she sang, her voice catching on the line, "I'll be thanking my dad / "Cause she grew from the drama". "It's private, but it happened past year". That was incredible! That was awesome. We all love you.
The tune, which namechecks several of her famous exes, including former fiance, Pete Davidson, the late Mac Miller, Big Sean, and Ricky Alvarez, is a touching tribute to the past men in her life and to the woman she's become as a result.
Pete Davidson, who until very recently was Grande's fiancé, had made a joke about their breakup on an SNL preview, and Grande didn't appreciate it. Watch the performance below.
