Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Irfan Fidan said last week that the ill-fated journalist had been strangled upon his arrival in the consulate, and then his body was dismembered and destroyed.
Government-linked Turkish media reported that Khashoggi's body was dismembered and removed from the consulate.
"UN member states must end their deafening silence on Saudi Arabia and do their duty of scrutinising the cruelty in the kingdom in order to prevent further outrageous human rights violations in the country and in Yemen", Samah Hadid, Amnesty International's Middle East director of campaigns, said in a statement.

He told Turkey's Anadolu news agency that it had been accepted that Khashoggi, who disappeared in Saudi Arabia's Istanbul Consulate on October 2, was targeted in a pre-meditated murder.

Saudi Arabia says 18 people have been detained over Khashoggi's killing and the head of its human rights commission told a meeting in Geneva on Monday Riyadh was investigating the case with a view to prosecuting the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, two of Khashoggi's sons appealed for his remains to be returned so that he may be buried in Saudi Arabia.
The kingdom maintains that Khashoggi's body was wrapped in a rug and disposed of by a "local collaborator" who has not been identified.
The official confirmed a report in Turkey's Sabah newspaper that a team of 11 Saudi investigators arrived in Turkey nine days after Mr Khashoggi was killed.
